- Women and men have long tried many methods to prevent pregnancy. Prior to modern methods of birth control, women relied on periodic abstinence but these methods often failed.
- The Affordable Care Act is the federal health care reform bill that congress passed and president Obama signed into a law in 2010. Under this law , private health insurance plans are beginning to offer birth control and some services without co-pays or deduction. Some insurance plans are offering this coverage plans now.
- .On August 1st, 2012 the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (Obama-care) required all health insurers and employers to cover the cost of contraceptives in their health insurance plans.
